Your questions about Hellfest!

Thanks guys!! I’m sure I’ll be asking lots of questions \m/

Is there a date for the next band announcement yet?

Expect it on Nov 20th.

has anyone stayed in a hotel in clisson? … any experiences you could share?

If you have not already found a place to stay in Clisson by now, I think that accomodations there must be fully booked by now. There are not so many of them and people tend to book them very much in advance. You stilll have a broad choice of them in Nantes if you do not wish to stay at the campsite.

@MetalWombat: thank you for your advice … i decided quickly and luckily got a room at the best western … my frensh sucks big time, fortunately their english does not

another question: what is the festival site like? i only know wacken (a plain field which can be very muddy when it rains) and rock am ring (solid asphalt ground, ideal for all kinds of weather) …

and: how big is the crowd in front of the stages? this year in wacken i was barely able to see the stage as maiden or slayer played and it was just cramped. at rock am ring there are barriers to devide the audience in multiple sections to leave people enough space and thus make it much more convenient for me to see slayer. do they have those barriers at hellfest?

Good you could book early. The ground at Hellfest is made of grass (that’s actually on sport pitches). The weather’s been very good in 2006 and from 2008 to 2010 so the ground was perfectly fine. 2007 was very bad as it rained non-stop for a week before the festival + some mistakes were made at the time. The staff learned from that so the 2007 mud bath belongs to the past for good now. Reagarding the crowd : the capacity is 25,000 per day max, knowing that 2 stages will play at the same time (2 main stages - roughly same size, 1 medium-capacity tent, 1 small-capacity stage). The trafic is usually fine but obviously gets more difficult when you get closer to the stage but nothing major really. Hellfest does not have the fence system you mention. I’ll try to post some aerial pics of the site tonight so you can figure it out yourself.

thank you, that’s very kind of you … i tried to find some good pics on flickr … but all i’ve got were some pics of bands or people on the campground … nothing useful to get a feeling for the crowd …
i’m not too keen on being right in front of the stage but i like being near of it without being pushed around too much … i’m getting older, you know?

25.000 people in front of multiple stages sounds fine to me  … even when headliners play …

Here’s a video so you can see how it looked like in 2010.
I have a couple of pics on my hard drive at home but I’m away for a few days : I’ll post them when I’m back.
The video will give you quite a good idea though.

Will there be other bands when this countdown ceases or just one? :stuck_out_tongue:

Several.

thanks a lot … these aerial pics really give a feeling for the dimensions of the festival site … compared to the likes of wacken or rock am ring, hellfest looks small, which i like a lot … especially because the lineup usually is even better than the ones of the woa and rar  … i am getting excited  … waiting for next weekend …

Are Scorpions headlining a day?

Yes!

tickets in fnac ?

Not before March and at full price !

Another British newbie to the festival here. How are you getting there?

Looks like an 8hr drive from London to Dover, through the Channel Tunnel, all the way to Clisson

The early bird would of included camping but its now sold out.

I’m driving myself as I prefer too. Never been before but this is how i’m getting there.

Ferry from portshmouth to caen, ferry is overnight on wednesday and arrive in caen on thursday at 7:30am I believe.

Then its a 3.5hour drive, so a week and coffee stop on the way.

Should get to the area well before 12, then hang around

Was thinking bout plane, but got hours waiting doing nothing, then getting from airport using shuttles and queueing up even more. Geting there is alright its coming back when you cant be bothered :stuck_out_tongue:

When are VIP tickets for sale, are they much more then general price? If I was to get VIP can I park in a seperate car park, possibly park next to my car?

No sale of VIP tickets last year, just invitations and pros, sponsors … are VIP
